The chairman and vice-chair of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority stated their support for joint working with Birmingham City Council on investigating future tunnel options, whilst at the same time stressing the urgency of providing the conurbation with the quality public transport network it desperately needs.
"We have two Metro extensions which have passed through the public inquiry process and could start to become reality within a few years," comments Cllr Gary Clarke. "What we don't want to do is to miss any opportunities and I am very keen to see Metro extension go ahead with the support of all partners. It is what this region needs."
